When teeth are present and need to be extracted an immediate denture is one option. The immediate denture is made ahead of time before the teeth are extracted. Teeth color, shape, and size are selected with the patients help. Once the teeth are extracted, the immediate denture is placed and adjusted on the same day. Adjustments to the immediate denture are made for 4-6 months as the bone and tissue heal and the extracted area re-contours. After the healing has occurred either a new denture is made or the immediate denture is relined with acrylic to fit the newly healed edentulous area which allows for a proper denture fit and is like getting a new denture.

For the last 34 years, Roderick Garcia, DMD, has provided a depth of dental services, including dental implant placement design and restoration, from his cosmetic and family dentistry offices in Albuquerque.

Dental implants can be used to resolve a number of oral health issues while returning teeth and the mouth to full functionality. To determine whether or not an individual is a candidate for dental implants, dentists perform a thorough examination of the patient’s mouth using X-rays. There are several conditions that may qualify a person for implants, though additional work may need to be done to ensure that implants will adequately address the issue at hand. For example, dental implants can be used to remedy missing teeth, if adjacent teeth are tipped however that cause crowding, patients may be required to wear orthodontic gear to create the necessary space first before implants can be placed.
