Teeth whitening is a bleaching process used to lighten discolored teeth. Consuming tea, coffee, cola, and red wine can lead to tooth discoloration. An effective and safe procedure that generally takes about 45 minutes, teeth whitening can provide people with a healthier smile.
A hydrogen peroxide whitening gel is first applied to the patient’s teeth for 15 minutes. Subsequently, a light triggers the gel’s stain-fighting properties, saturating the patient’s teeth and removing the discoloration without affecting the teeth’s structure. The gel is generally applied in two more 15-minute sessions. Afterward, patients will generally receive a touch-up kit that consists of custom-fitted whitening trays.
